OOTD: Duck on ducks and Review

IMG_6189IMG_6243VOILA! I’ve been eagerly anticipating this dress for some time. You may recall a month or so ago, I wrote up a Look Book Love post for the UK based brand Vintage Style Me. I fell in love and wanted to dig in and try out a dress right away! So I went ahead and ordered the Duck Print Sailor Dress. 1 month later, it has arrived!

So let me start off by saying… I do love this dress. I love that it’s handmade, that it’s 100% cotton and I adore the overall theme with the nautical collar and duck print. It feels like something straight out of a Wes Anderson movie, like many of their designs, and I adore it. In the interest of providing a helpful review, however, I’ll go into more positive and some negative details below! ❤

First, the fit. Though of a petite stature, I have a pretty large bust so I was a bit hesitant to order in the “smock” option. I went ahead anyway because that is more of their signature cut and … unfortunately I should probably not do it again. It’s roomy and tight in all the wrong places for my body type… so I’ll probably be more of a “skater” girl for my next purchase! It’s great that they do offer different fits for each dress. Anyone out there who is pretty slender with a chest on the flatter side… this cut would look adorable on you! Sadly that’s not me. On the plus side, though, it is comfy!

My other slight concern is with consistency. It appears as a cream color online and not white. I wouldn’t normally order anything stark white but the print is so lovely, I’ll forgive it. The sleeves are also slightly different, in the picture they are quite a bit longer and not capped (which again would have worked better for my body type).

HONESTLY this probably won’t stop me from buying again and it certainly won’t stop me from wearing this dress. I think I’ll get much more wear out of it this fall with some sweaters and brogues and look forward to seeing what else they’ll offer up soon. Going forward I think it would be a good idea to add in some additional notes at purchase with details on fit… especially if you’re petite and curvy like I am.

All-in-all, I love the brand, love the designs and I love what they do. So, thumbs up! ❤
